The surface materials collected during the site surveys consist mainly of pottery sherds, lithics, glass, metals, and small objects. All find spots were geo-referenced spots, all materials collected so far have been photographed, drawn, and recorded in a database.
The ongoing analysis of the growing surface collections has enabled us to contextualize the surveyed sites chronologically. This analysis has highly benefitted from the available data gained by the stratified ceramic materials from excavations at Sātu Qalā from the Neo-Assyrian to the Hellenistic phases.
Although almost one half of the materials analyzed so far seems to come from a local production, the analysis has led to numerous parallels in the repertoire of neighbouring regions in Northern Mesopotamia.
